Christopher M. Harvey

J.D., CPA, LL.M. (Taxation)

Christopher M. Harvey is a partner in the law firm of Harvey & Mortensen where he heads up the estate planning and tax practice areas. He is also Of Counsel to the law firm of Harvey, Casterline & Vallini, L.L.P. located in Columbia, South Carolina. He practiced formerly in his own practice in Wayne, Pennsylvania handling estate and tax planning for closely-held business owners and high net worth individuals. Prior to that he worked as a certified public accountant for Price Waterhouse, L.L.P. in New York City and Chase Manhattan Bank.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting (cum laude) from the University of Delaware and his Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) and Master of Laws in Taxation from the Villanova University School of Law where he was Associate Editor of the Law Review. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, he is admitted to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars.

Mr. Harvey focuses in the legal transactions surrounding estate and tax planning. Currently, Mr. Harvey is an adjunct professor at Villanova University School of Law's Graduate Tax Program teaching Taxation of Property Dispositions, Income Taxation of Trusts and Estates, and Post Mortem Estate Planning. In addition, he is a frequent lecturer throughout the country on these topics for accountants and attorneys earning Continuing Professional and Legal Education credit. The New Hampshire Society of CPAs selected Mr. Harvey as the Outstanding Discussion Leader for 1996 and 1998. Mr. Harvey's teaches numerous estate planning and tax courses including The Guide to Administration of Trusts and Estates, Mastering the Fundamentals of Estate Planning, Federal Estate and Gift Tax Returns - Forms 706 and 709 Workshop, Fiduciary Income Tax Return - Form 1041 Workshop, Post Mortem Estate Planning - Forms 706, 1041 and 1040, Advanced Estate Planning and Valuation Issues for the Closely Held Business Owner, Advanced Concepts in the Mathematics of Estate Planning, and Current Trends in Estate Planning. In addition, he authored the course books "The Guide to the Administration of Trusts and Estates" and "Mastering the Fundamentals of Estate Planning" used to teach the specifics of administering a trust or will and the fundamentals of estate planning to both attorneys and certified public accountants.
